Cover selected parts of an image with solid black rectangles, then save a new PNG or JPEG. The image is handled on this device.
Remove photo location data
Remove location, date taken, camera model and other capture details from JPEG, PNG and WebP photos. The image is not recompressed, so quality stays the same.
Your photo is read on this device and is not saved or sent.
or drop a file here
JPEG, PNG or WebP, one at a time (up to 50 MB)
What is removed and what is kept
- Removed: EXIF (location, date taken, camera, lens, serial number, embedded thumbnail and more), XMP, IPTC, comments, PNG text and modification time, data attached after the image (such as a second image), and information that can’t be identified.
- Kept: the color profile (ICC) and color rendering and resolution settings, because removing them can change how colors look.
- Orientation: a photo taken sideways would display rotated if its orientation were removed. When the orientation is anything other than “normal”, a minimal record with only the orientation is written back.
Image quality
The image data is not recompressed. Only the metadata parts are left out when the file is rebuilt, so quality and pixels stay the same.
Checking the saved file
Before saving, the new file is read again to confirm that no location, date taken, camera model or thumbnail remains. If this can’t be confirmed, nothing is saved.
Supported files and limits
- JPEG, PNG and WebP (one at a time, up to 50 MB). The format is detected from the file contents. HEIC, GIF, TIFF and RAW are not supported.
- Places or people that can be recognized from the picture itself (scenery, signs, faces) can’t be removed.
- Damaged or cut-off files are not processed.
