Compare two texts line by line and see added, removed, and changed lines.

UTF-8 text files are compared in your browser; their contents are not saved or sent. Imported LF, CRLF, and CR line endings, a final line break, and a leading UTF-8 BOM are preserved. Editing a text box changes line endings to LF, as required by browsers.

What you can compare

Compare two texts line by line to see additions, deletions and changes. Enter text or open UTF-8 text files. You can ignore spaces and tabs, but line-ending differences are still compared. Editing imported text in the input field may convert its line endings to LF.

Limits and results

Each input allows up to 200,000 UTF-16 code units and 5,000 lines; files may contain up to 600,000 bytes. Some characters, including emoji, use multiple code units. Results are limited to 2,000 displayed lines. Comparisons that require too much work are stopped with an explanation. Long unchanged sections are collapsed. You can copy a comparison report.

The tool does not judge whether the text is correct. Input text is not automatically saved or transmitted.
